Insomnia: A few helpful tips

Sleep.

A much needed escape for sensitive folk.

A time to step out of our body and into our consciousness and clear whatever we may have accumulated over the day (the body literally cleans the brain while we sleep!). I've never been much of a sleeper, even as a kid I was woken up multiple times throughout the night, but these days I've taken the 'not much of a sleeper' to the extreme - staying up until 5am or later until finally dozing off.

It's not ideal, but it has been a good opportunity to get back in touch with sleep hygiene, develop a closer connection with my physical, mental, and energetic needs - and drink lots and lots of chamomile tea + non-diary milk. Here are a couple natural sleep remedies I've come across incase you are also trying to calm your mind and catch some much needed rest!  None of which include sleeping medications or melatonin supplements.

1. THIS video talks all about negative entities and how they attach to our bodies and interrupt our sleep.... by waking us up, making us scared, and sending us intrusive thoughts. I encourage you to watch the whole thing (so informative... and frankly quite mind blowing) but the part about sleep only starts around the 55 minute mark. Understanding the impact of negative entities on sleep and wellbeing is especially important for empaths because we are energetically open.

As someone who is highly sensitive to the non-physical world, I've experienced non-physical visitors my entire life, and it took me a long time to feel safe acknowledging it out loud. Because well, ghosts and other non-physical beings aren't that readily accepted in our western world. Understanding what was waking me up at 3am every night and learning skills for protecting myself has changed my entire life.

2. THIS Lavender, Sandalwood, and Jasmine essential oil roller ball. The smell is divine. The best place to put it? The back of the neck, the inner wrists, and the temples. It's vegan, paraben and synthetic fragrance free, and I might just start wearing it as a perfume. It's that calming.

3. THESE Natural Sleep Remedies from Ashley Neese. An inspiring holistic blogger I stumbled across last week. Breathwork is a beautiful practice that has taken the self help world by storm - and for good reason! Using long exhales has been incredibly helpful to ground my energy and create space for a deep restorative sleep. I'm also going to try the legs against the wall trick she also suggests.

How many hours of sleep do you require a night? Are you successful in getting them? Let's talk sleep. And please, please, let me know if you have any other tips!

Happiest of Fridays, friends. Get out and do something meaningful this weekend.

xx
