giving to the point of burnout

Cancer season draws us home, and for me it’s been back to my written word — the words I use to make sense of the world. I feel inspired to write more, so much that I’ve filled three journals; pages and pages of channeled notes. Parts of my process I used to share freely with the world. I was an open book; sharing my everything so others would know they weren’t alone.

In a way I was creating a home.

A place of refuge from the real world for myself and those who followed my work.

I struggled with boundaries, though.

And the home I was creating was dysfunctional.

Opening my doors to whoever wanted to walk through, even if it meant I was taken advantage of, or left hurt. Or helpful at the expense of my own needs and nourishment. So I pulled back and learned to value my output. Curating new rules for what I shared, when, and with who.

New passcodes for new doors.
Doors that didn’t just open to others, but kept me safe too.

An act of healing the mother wound; the belief that being boundaryless made me valuable. And giving and sharing of everything made me helpful.

A wound that is carried in the maternal. A wound amongst healers and nurturers. A wound I see playing out in so many empaths who fear charging for their work, because to do that requires they put themselves first. To install a door with a passcode not everyone can afford. To stop giving to everyone who showed up in * need * of their work.

You might notice it in your world?

How you give to the point of burnout to prove your worth? How you’ve built a life of less to be seen as more by those you’ve come to serve?

A belief system so many of us have come to embody,

see through

and lovingly transmute.

A belief system that requires the deepest of our inner work.

And if you’re reading this, work that was gifted to you.

To remember that you’ve always been, and will always be so much more than what you can do.
