a new moon ritual

It’s a new moon (in Virgo) and this one feels special.

Not only is it a new moon, it’s in a physical sign that helps us reach further towards our real-world goals. I’ll be releasing a podcast episode tonight on how this is manifesting in my world and a few of the new moon lessons we’re working through, but I also wanted to leave you with a new moon ritual.

Virgo is a yes/no sign. It knows how to designate and categorize. For that reason, it rules discernment and the ability to judge what is and is not in our best interest. It asks us to commit. And set boundaries for what doesn’t align with the life we want to live.

Which isn’t always the easiest, stepping into worth never is, because… what if?

What if you set a boundary and something bad happens?
What if you stop an old behaviour, that leads to something catastrophic?
What if you take a big step forward and end up worse off than when you started?

You won’t, but Virgo gets anxious, and likes to micromanage, and taking any sort of leap without knowing exactly where she’ll land can feel not worth it.

But it is, because to grow is to expand, and to expand requires facing a new beginning. One that you haven’t yet experienced, one that requires you have faith in the universe and all her magic.

Just like a seed becomes a flower.
Or a seedling, a tree.

The universe knows what she is doing — and this moon asks you to let go of your need to control so you can move forward and grow into the life that is calling to you. The life you know you’d much more prefer.

Ritual

Anytime I feel too controlling, and find myself not taking action on something I want because I fear what will happen, I find a quiet place, light a candle & call in protection and ask my guides and angels of the highest truth and compassion to take what doesn’t serve me anymore. I ask it to be gentle, yet firm and release me of any cords that are holding me back from my growth. Not only is this powerful for clearing my physical, mental and energetic fields from anything stagnant and old, it also requires I practice surrender.

This only works if you’re willing to let go of it all, so if you find yourself making exclusions, “like, take anything but my relationship or home” then you know you are still trying to control. So lean in, and ask yourself, if you’ve only asked for what doesn’t serve you to be removed, why are you so fearful? What is the root? Knowing you are so deeply loved and protected and your team in non-physical only wants what’s best for us all.

Enjoy and let me know if you give this a go! And share with anyone you know could use this exercise at this new moon.
